We can offer you a training programme where you will be supported by our Clinical educator and other senior staff.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as it has been established to provide cover for maternity leave and will end on 01-Dec-2026 or when the substantive postholder returns.
Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Candidates are required to hold NMC registration to be eligible to apply for this role.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the Ward Manager, the nurse is responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care of the patients in their care and to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high quality care is provided to all patients.

Responsibility for Finance
* To be aware of resources and give high quality cost effective care.
Responsibility for Human Resources
In conjunction with the ward manager, participate in induction programmes, introducing new staff to the ward and their duties.
Responsibility for Health & Safety
Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974: the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all actions, including risk assessment, appropriate actions, and reporting of incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Responsibility for Teaching
* Take personal responsibility for developing and maintaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in conjunction with NMC guidance.
* Attend mandatory training as directed by Trust.
* In conjunction with the ward manager, help create and maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and students and act as a mentor in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
* To develop own teaching skills and participate in education programmes supervising unqualified nurses and students as directed.
Person Specification
Skills
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to maintain and improve standards of care.
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour or practice in a professional context.
Experience
* Experience in the relevant speciality.
* Experience of working independently and as a member of a team.
Qualifications
* RGN.
* Recent evidence of continuing professional development.
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional Endoscopy issues.
* Knowledge of evidence based practice.
* Understanding of research/audit.
Additional
* Flexible and positive approach to work.
* Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation.
