An opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist/Administrator to join our team at Woodview Medical Practice.
The successful candidate should have experience in a similar role or be motivated and keen to learn, together with excellent communication skills.
Training will be offered.
Experience working within Primary Care and SystmOne would be an advantage.
The post is for maternity cover initially at 17 hours, with a view to a reduced number of permanent hours.
Maternity shift pattern includes;
Monday 8.30am - 12.30pm
Thursday 2pm - 6pm
Friday 8.30am - 1.30pm
Main duties of the job
Duties include dealing with patients by telephone and face to face projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors to the practice.
The job includes significant amount of multi-tasking with the ability to be compassionate and empathetic.
The successful candidate will be flexible and reliable with the ability to work under pressure to compliment our experienced and dedicated team.

Providegeneral assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendlyimage to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

* Ensure an effective and efficientreception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to thepractice.
* Deal with all general enquiries,explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Using your own judgement andcommunication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment butwho need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptivemanner.
* Care navigation signpost patientsto the most appropriate services.
* Explain practice arrangements andformal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, andensure procedures are completed.
* Receive and make telephone calls asrequired. Divert calls and takemessages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Liaise with patients and pharmaciesto resolve issues with medications.
* Enter patient information on to thecomputer as required ensuring clear and concise detail.
* Ensure that all new patients areregistered onto the computer system promptly and accurately, ensuringpatients are invited for a new patient medical where appropriate.
* Enter patient-relateddocuments onto their medical record using read codes as agreed by theclinical team. These may be received via post or electronically via emailor SystmOne.
* Action emails, tasksand other forms of communication received in to the practice.
* Sendreferral letters and other communications to specialists and externalhealthcare providers.
* Coordinatingreferrals to specialists and other healthcare services as directed by the GPs.
* Providecover for colleagues in the event of sickness and shortage which may involvechanging times/days of shifts.
* Assisting in the preparation and distribution ofmedical reports and summaries
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GSCE level or equivalent.
* AMSPAR Qualification.
Other requirements
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Flexibility to work outside contracted working hours.
* Full UK Driving license and own transport due to location.

* Experience of working in an administrative/reception role.
* Experience of working with the general public.
* Experience of working in a GP Practice.

Skills and Knowledge
