About the team and the role
The Commercial Finance team provides insight, value, and reporting for Ocado.com and Zoom by Ocado. You will support the Fresh team, providing financial expertise and challenge to deliver profitable growth, including evaluating cost structures, tenders, joint business plans, and trading decisions like pricing and promotions.
What you’ll do
* Partner with your functional area to support leadership decisions and identify business opportunities.
* Be the trusted business partner for the Trading Managers and the Commercial Director.
* Provide regular, insightful trade performance reports, including mix vs. rate analysis.
* Translate complex financial scenarios for non-financial colleagues.
* Work with data teams to enable better and faster decision-making.
* Assist in preparing and reviewing budgets and forecasts.
* Develop and follow up on activities to meet performance expectations.
* Negotiate with suppliers during business planning and monitor performance against targets.
* Own the forecasting process, improve accuracy, and understand trade drivers.
* Support month-end activities with accruals and supplier income reporting.
* Implement improvements within the Commercial Finance Teams.
* Evaluate new product launches and promotional activities for profitability.
* Participate in cross-functional projects and provide ad hoc finance support.
* Supervise and coach junior team members.
Who you are
* Qualified accountant with strong academic background.
* Retail experience is advantageous.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Strong Excel skills and experience in financial modeling.
* Highly numerate, analytical, and detail-oriented.
* Deadline-focused and goal-oriented.
* Enthusiastic learner and proactive.
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
* Ownership of results and adaptable to change.
