Nurse Endoscopist – Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Key Responsibilities
* Perform upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.
* Collaborate with senior Nurse Endoscopists and clinical specialists to provide high‑quality patient care.
* Participate in mentorship, coaching and training of endoscopy team members.
Professional Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (first level).
* Relevant training in upper and lower GI endoscopy.
* Evidence of a continued personal professional development plan.
* Project management training or experience.
* Post‑registration management and/or leadership course or equivalent experience.
* JAG accreditation as an independent endoscopist for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Specialist Knowledge Requirements
* Up‑to‑date knowledge and expertise in upper and lower GI endoscopy.
* Knowledge of intravenous sedatives and their reversal agents.
* Non‑medical independent or supplementary prescriber status.
* Clinical examination and assessment skills.
* Knowledge of NMC guidelines and professional practice issues.
* Ability to work across organisational boundaries.
* JAG accredited train‑the‑trainer qualification.
Experience
* Therapeutic endoscopy (e.g., EMR, polypectomy).
* Leadership and developmental work undertaken.
* Effective interpersonal and professional relationships.
* Knowledge of the Endoscopy Global Rating Scale (GRS) and JAG accreditation standards.
* Organisational and management skills.
* Team‑working ability.
* Clinical and nursing research knowledge related to endoscopy.
* Teaching to patients and staff, formally or informally.
* Audit and research knowledge.
* Current professional and managerial knowledge within the NHS and endoscopy setting.
* Understanding of national strategy and policy related to endoscopy.
* Facilitation of professional growth in colleagues.
* Project and change management experience.
