Business Development Executive- Blackburn £35-£38k basic plus 2% commission

I’m currently exclusively partnering with a highly respected UK engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Business Development Executive.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, commercially ambitious organisation with a strong reputation in its specialist market. The business operates across multiple sales channels and is investing in its sales function to drive the next phase of growth.
This role would suit a driven, resilient sales professional who thrives on outbound engagement, structured pipeline development and converting opportunity into revenue.
The Role
The Business Development Executive will play a key role in generating and qualifying new commercial opportunities across multiple channels. This position combines outbound prospecting, inbound lead management and early-stage technical qualification.
You’ll work closely with Sales, Marketing and Technical teams, ensuring high-quality opportunities are progressed effectively through the sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Generation
Structured outbound calling to renewal prospects, lapsed customers, website enquiries and broker/partner networks
Generating qualified meetings for channel sales colleagues
Proactively identifying new business opportunities
Opportunity Qualification
Assessing technical suitability and routing opportunities internally
Maintaining strong CRM discipline and data integrity
Understanding the sales conversion process within a technical product environment
Revenue Contribution
Converting inbound leads into confirmed orders
Supporting fleet and larger commercial opportunities
Contributing directly to revenue and pipeline growth
Performance & Reporting
Achieving weekly activity and meeting targets
Maintaining clean pipeline management
Supporting accurate forecasting
Ensuring CRM compliance and reporting accuracy

Skills & Experience
Essential/Desirable:
Experience in a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment
Previous experience within a sales or business development role
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Results-driven and self-motivated
Strong administrative capability
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Professional telephone manner
Desirable:
Experience supporting technically-led sales processes
Familiarity with CRM systems and structured pipeline management
