Overview
Prysmian Street Lighting Department, part of the Prysmian Cables & Systems Utilities Division, maintains over 100,000 street lights and illuminated signs across the UK. Operating from Midlands depots in Stourport and Atcham, the department is responsible for installation and maintenance projects throughout the local area.
Position Summary
The Street Lighting Highways Electrician carries out installation and maintenance works on street lighting projects, supervising operatives, working alone or as part of a team, and ensuring compliance with all safety and technical regulations.
Responsibilities
* Carry out installation and maintenance works on street lighting projects, including routine maintenance, inspection, testing and rectification of faulty equipment.
* Supervise Street Lighting Operatives on site.
* Work alone or as part of a team, attend training sessions as required.
* Install new equipment in accordance with the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Regulations or contract specifications.
* Assist the Contract Engineer in the compilation of RAMS for Prysmian activities.
* Carry out daily risk assessments at the point of work and ensure personnel receive adequate information and instructions for safe working.
* Ensure any unsafe or non‑compliant equipment is immobilised and reported to the Senior/Contract Engineer.
* Report defects, accidents, incidents, diseases, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other nonconformities to the Senior/Contract Engineer.
* Drive and operate any allocated vehicle, report vehicle defects or damage, and complete a daily vehicle report.
* Maintain personal tools, attend breakdown incidents or emergencies, and make safe any damaged equipment.
* Ensure compliance with local safety rules and, where appropriate, safety rules pertaining to customer premises and work areas.
* Maintain records as required.
* Carry out other duties as determined by the Street Lighting Supervisor.
