We’re Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management and development consultancy. As our Environment and Water portfolio grows, we are seeking a dedicated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for partnering with our clients to ensure their complex projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

What you will contribute to the team
* Support Water Companies in delivering large capital programmes, providing an essential service, and improving the environment.
* Provide commercial support to a large project or programme of works.
* Ensure robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and account for risks and opportunities.
* Manage commercial inputs to the procurement process, including developing and agreeing strategies.
* Ensure contracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements, including responses to communications, payments and programme submissions.
* Maintain robust cost management at all times.
* Proactively manage project and programme risk with mitigation plans in place and implemented.
* Develop strong client relationships across the organisation.
* Monitor that technical solutions meet technical standards, legal obligations, and client requirements.
* Apply a systematic approach to critically examine situations from different perspectives and gather relevant information to reach decisions.
* Generate and weigh different options, assess risks and consequences, and make well-reasoned, timely decisions.
* Involve and consult those affected by the decision and maintain client relationships to anticipate needs.
Required For Position Of Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Chartered Surveyor, ideally MRICS, with a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
* Experience working with NEC Contracts and other target cost, or cost reimbursable contracts.
* Experience delivering commercial and contractual elements of heavy infrastructure projects.
* Experience in Contract Management.
* Demonstrated background in Consultancy or Main Contracting environments.
* Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, and manage time efficiently.
* Customer focus with the ability to engage in sound relationships with the project team.
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Flexible approach to work; technically and commercially aware to deliver post-contract service and problem-solving.
* Proactive and self-motivated with strong commercial knowledge.
* Willing to travel to client sites, with potential overnight stays.
Preferred, But Not Essential
* A knowledge and expertise in the water/wastewater industry sector.
About The Business Unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme and commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across sectors including built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care. APD handles projects up to £20bn, across programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management. Our Environment & Water team helps water and government organisations address climate change, net-zero, water scarcity and environmental protection, spanning the full project lifecycle from pre-contract cost estimating to post-contract commercial assurance. We work with around half of the UK’s regulated water and wastewater companies.
