A leading independent trust and private client services firm is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Client Accounting Manager to join their Guernsey office. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a progressive and supportive environment while leading and developing a small team of accountants and bookkeepers.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of accountants and bookkeepers at various levels, overseeing workflow across the client accounting function, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate financial statements in a cost-effective manner. The role also involves working closely with trust administration teams, contributing to policy development, and engaging with transformation projects around automation.
Key Responsibilities
•Supervise and prioritise the workload of the client accounting team to ensure deadlines are met.
•Review and approve financial statements prepared by the team to a high standard.
•Liaise with trust administration teams to clear queries promptly.
•Contribute to the development of improved policies and procedures.
•Act as a key liaison on automation initiatives across jurisdictions.
•Produce management information and monitor key performance indicators.
•Manage timesheets, holidays, and work scheduling.
•Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
•Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the Finance Director.
•Provide training and mentoring to both accounting and administration staff.
•Assist with preparation of internal annual financial statements.
About You
•ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 1 year’s post-qualification experience.
•Strong technical knowledge of accounting and trust/company financial statements.
•Proven people management skills, with experience in supervising and developing staff.
•Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
•High attention to detail with the ability to review moderately complex documentation.
•Strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
•Commercial awareness with a focus on cost-effectiveness and client service excellence.
