We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.
Job overview
We wish to appoint a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, with an interest in General Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery and Trauma, with a subspecialty interest in Skin Cancer management.
You will undertake clinical commitments across the Bay at three sites.
You will participate in the consultant on-call rota. It is envisaged that the post holder will develop a subspecialty interest to complement those of the existing consultants.
Main duties of the job
You would participate in a general consultant on-call rota, with a commitment to undertake a weekend morning trauma list during your on-call weekend. This on-call rota is a 1:4 when this vacancy is filled.
There are close working relationships with our ENT colleagues in the MDT Head and Neck cancer service, as well as Clinical Nurse Specialists who link up with the Regional Head and Neck Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital (Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust).
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides General Hospital services and an Urgent Treatment Centre to handle non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three hospitals offer outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day-case, and inpatient surgery, along with outreach services across Morecambe Bay.
