Hillcrest Futures are recruiting for two Peer Support Worker posts.
About the Service
Hillcrest Futures are looking to recruit Peer Support Workers to join our Perth and Kinross Adult Drug and Alcohol Services as part of a new exciting project to work alongside Scottish Prison Service (SPS) Recovery Officers and NHS staff within His Majesty Prison (HMP) Perth as part of a multi-disciplinary recovery team. The aim is to reach out to people in prison to engage them in a recovery focussed environment. The project will also work with the families of those involved in recovery to prepare all parties for eventual release back into their communities and family home.
About the Role
Peer Support Workers will work as part of a multi-disciplinary recovery team operating within the prison that supports those in crisis as a result of addiction. You will have lived experience of recovery and will work alongside SPS Recovery staff to engage residents in their own recovery journey.
You will be expected to encourage those individuals to work with the recovery team through delivering one-to-one support, group activities, support to deliver recovery cafes, and promotion of peer naloxone. Then progress to an approach to involve the individual’s family or external support network along with partners operating in the community to ensure the support network for an individual to re-integrate back into their community and, or family home.
In addition, the role will be to maintain effective working relationships and boundaries to protect your own and others recovery as well as promoting awareness of the range of recovery support and activities available to people in recovery by encouraging engagement with community activities.
