Join the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in a pivotal leadership position where your work will directly shape the environment and experience of colleagues across our organisation. As Head of Workplace and Facilities, youll lead the delivery and continuous improvement of facilities, estates, and health and safety management, ensuring our workplaces remain safe, sustainable, and fit for the future.
The role carries strategic responsibility for three key sites two in Liverpool and one in Darlington and a broad facilities portfolio, covering health and safety, contract management, and business continuity and disaster recovery. With oversight of an annual budget of around £6 million, youll ensure value for money across contracts, rent, and utilities while developing a forward-looking estates strategy that meets both operational and long-term needs.
Your expertise will drive the development of effective systems to manage estate pressures and provide assurance that our working environments support both people and performance. Acting as a trusted authority on facilities and estates management, youll play a crucial role in shaping the DBSs disaster recovery planning and readiness.
About you
Youll bring professional credibility through IWFM and NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications, or equivalent experience gained within a complex estates or facilities environment. Success will depend on strong collaboration, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a confident approach to partnership working across teams and functions.
Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the resilience to remain calm and decisive under pressure. A proven ability to engage, motivate and lead others through change will set you apart.
