Job Description
3. Support the Head of Indirect Tax in managing all UK VAT matters and provide cover when required.
4. Lead aspects of the Group's MTD VAT compliance, including maintaining and enhancing automated VAT processes and workflows.
5. Act as a key user of the Group's VAT compliance system, supporting onboarding of newly acquired entities and maintaining VAT group configurations.
6. Support finance and business integration projects, including VAT input into acquisitions and restructures.
7. Assist in identifying VAT efficiency opportunities and risk mitigation initiatives.
8. Compile, review and support submission of the UK Group VAT return, with involvement in non-UK VAT compliance where required.
9. Assist in the development and maintenance of VAT policies and documentation, including PESM and input tax recovery methodologies.
10. Provide VAT guidance to finance teams on liabilities, property transactions, AP/AR queries and contract reviews.
11. Support maintenance of the VAT risk and control framework, including BRR+ and SAO documentation.
12. Assist with VAT due diligence and health checks for M&A activity and newly acquired businesses.
13. Deliver VAT training and support to Accounts Payable, finance teams and the wider business.
14. Liaise with HMRC and external advisors as required.
15. Act as a point of contact for VAT matters relating to entity liquidations.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Indirect Tax Manager should have:
16. Proven expertise in indirect tax, specifically within the financial services industry.
17. Strong understanding of VAT compliance and advisory processes.
18. Experience in managing relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
19. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
20. Relevant professional qualifications in tax or accounting.
21. Ability to work effectively within a large organisation and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
