As a Speciality Steels apprentice, you will learn how to: Work safely with Process control and electrical equipment Understand electrical drawings Maintain process control equipment to a professional standard Carry out fault finding and repairs You will work within the Speciality Steels business, which produces high performance alloy and stainless steels designed to meet the detailed and demanding requirements of some of the world’s most challenging markets and industries. Process control at Speciality Steels involves a wide range of services including aerospace specification compliance, maintenance of bespoke complex machinery, from electric arc furnaces to non-destructive testing facilities while working as part of a specialised department engineering team. The training you will be getting Level 3 Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician Delivered at the Stocksbridge Training Centre. Year 1: In your first year you will: Start modules towards Electrical maintenance and the first year of your BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering Undertake specialist engineering training programme at our on-site training centre at Stocksbridge. Year 2: During your second year you will: Undertake on-site working alongside qualified Technicians; Complete a BTEC Level 3 in Engineering Continue to complete your competence portfolio through experience within the work place Year 3: Your third year will see you: Working on‐site with qualified Technicians Complete an end point assessment What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship You can expect to start your career as a craft team member in a Process control department. As you move around, you'll gain lots of hands on, practical experience, get the chance to work with different people and discover how the company works. Your apprenticeship at Stocksbridge, Rotherham or Brinsworth, will include time at college and a training programme that guarantees variety and hands on work. It’s an ideal blend of classroom and ‘on-the-job’ training. The Apprenticeship Programme lasts three years, however this is reviewed every 12 months. Although initially based at our Stocksbridge site there is potential that you will rotate throughout all three South Yorkshire sites at some point within year 2 and 3. Please be aware no positions are specific to just one location until substantive positions are offered and may include shifts/weekend working. Once you have completed the 3 years you will gain an Apprenticeship Standard Certificate. Following this you will look to move to a permanent position within Speciality Steels and your 4th year will see you transition into this role.
