What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and versatile individual to join our engineering team. This role involves collaboration with technicians, clients, and engineers on projects within our Testing, Monitoring, and Engineering Program. Responsibilities include planning and executing testing/monitoring on structures such as dams, bridges, and buildings, coordinating with clients, overseeing field installation and testing, data interpretation, performing code-based calculations, and report writing. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally within a supportive consulting group where mentorship by senior staff is available.
What You’ll Do:
Engineering Tasks
* Develop instrumentation plans and testing documents aligning with project requirements
* Coordinate with Project Manager on project planning and logistics
* Make engineering decisions on-site to ensure safety and effectiveness
* Update documentation and photos post-project, sharing lessons learned
* Analyze and interpret project data for reporting to clients
* Assist with project deliverables, reports, and findings
* Apply design codes to compute structural capacities and serviceability limits
On-Site Installation
* Lead field projects as a site supervisor
* Coordinate travel arrangements for team members
* Execute project plans within budget and schedule
* Evaluate and improve processes for efficiency and cost savings
* Prepare or review client-facing documentation
* Ensure compliance with project specifications and contracts
* Perform installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems
* Work under various conditions, including heights, overnight shifts, and weather
Project Support
* Travel to field sites for sensor installation and troubleshooting as needed
* Perform other duties as required
What You Need to Be Successful:
* Experience with instrumentation, testing, monitoring, or structural health monitoring
* Hands-on load rating project experience
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and familiarity with MATLAB, Python, VBA, etc.
* Knowledge of AASHTO design codes and rating manuals
* Strong communication skills for diverse audiences
* Solid understanding of structural mechanics
* Additional experience in construction or finite element modeling
* Proficiency with hand and power tools
* Experience operating machinery like MEWP
* Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and sustain physical activity

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
* 1-3 years of structural engineering experience
* Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
* Willingness to travel extensively for fieldwork
* SPRAT L1 Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
* Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Benefits and Compensation:
Salary Range: $72,500 - $90,000 annually
