Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention, West Essex

The Social Worker will manage a defined caseload, working with children, young people and families/carers to achieve positive change and improved outcomes. The role involves assessment, intervention, review in relation to Child Protection, Child in Need, Children Looked After and achieving permanency through care for Children in Care. The position also supports case transfer to Family Support and Protection Teams or to Family Solutions where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Assess and intervene with children from pre‑birth to 18 years through short‑term interventions and child protection enquiries.
* Work with families, partners and other agencies, including police and other community services, to manage risk and provide timely support.
* Deliver purposeful intervention, reviews and care planning, ensuring professional standards are met.
* Maintain accurate and timely case records in specified information technology systems.
* Provide mobile service across Essex county, traveling as required and ensuring safe transport of service users.
Qualifications
* Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent and registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker.
* Demonstrable capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards (PCF, KSS).
* Ability to apply social work knowledge, use emotional intelligence, analytical skills and act confidence in challenging social and family situations.
* Good working knowledge and ability to use information technology and related systems (Word, case‑recording systems).
* Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
