About The Role
As a Technical Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical and electrical maintenance across the Dartford River Crossing and M25 tunnels. You’ll manage a team of M&E Maintenance Technicians, oversee subcontractors, and provide leadership to ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and client requirements. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical infrastructure operations on one of the UK’s busiest motorways, contributing directly to the safety, resilience, and performance of the network. You will also drive continuous improvement, identify operational efficiencies, and support the long‑term success of the M25 network.
What you'll be doing
You will maintain expert knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems across the Dartford River Crossing and tunnels, ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned, resourced, and executed safely and efficiently. You will prepare and deliver work briefings, conduct pre‑site inspections, and debrief teams to embed lessons learned into future activities. You will oversee resource allocation, ensuring the right people, equipment, and materials are in place to complete work safely and on schedule. Fleet management, including compliance with drivers’ hours and defect reporting, will also form part of your responsibilities.
Safety and compliance are core to this role. You will lead by example to embed Zero Harm principles, ensuring all work adheres to established safety standards, systems, and procedures. You will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of risk assessments and method statements and support the workforce in identifying and mitigating potential hazards. Your leadership will extend to managing day‑to‑day team performance, monitoring attendance, approving leave, and supporting ongoing development. You will deliver toolbox talks, provide feedback and training, and ensure clear and consistent communication with your team.
You will also foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability, encouraging innovative approaches to enhance operational performance, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, and ensuring maintenance activities align with environmental best practices.

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Supervisor with a Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification, a CSCS Supervisor card, and either SSSTS or SMSTS certification. You must have previous experience maintaining HV and LV systems, high‑volume pumps, and associated safety systems in a highways or tunnels environment. You have a strong understanding of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards within a highways context and are confident leading multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to deliver clear briefings, handovers, and maintain accurate records. You must be competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, hold a current UK driving licence, and be able to complete necessary checks including BPSS, HAVS questionnaire, and Critical Safety Medical. This role operates on a 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern, rotating equally between day and night shifts, and requires a proactive, safety‑focused leader who thrives in a hands‑on, high‑pressure environment.
