Sainsburys Crick is looking to recruit a Transport Shift Manager to work an average of 42 hours per week on a '4 on 4 off' rotating days and nights shift pattern. You will be responsible for the management of the Transport, Warehouse and Yard operations. The site runs approximately 175 journeys per day and cross docks 20,000 pallets per week.
Key duties and accountabilities:
Includes but not limited to:
* Responsible for managing 125 HGV drivers across various shift patterns, liaising with the Driver Trainer, managing infringements, WTD and ensuring legal compliance.
* Overall responsibility for the chilled warehouse cross dock operation, liaising with the Warehouse Supervisor, managing 10-15 warehouse colleagues per shift.
* Working alongside the Fleet Manager ensuring our fleet of 67 units and 72 trailers are legally compliant
* Ensuring time sensitive journeys are dispatched on time and arrive at Sainsburys RDC's and suppliers on time.
* Ensuring company policies and procedures are applied consistently
* Route cause analysis of personal and vehicle accidents ensuring investigations have appropriate actions taken
* Ensure that employees are managed in a consistent way in line with current processes to help achieve business and personal growth
* Completing detailed and thorough investigations and disciplinary hearings
* Achieve and exceed KPI`s in line with the business goals
* Lead a culture where Health and Safety is part of our daily activities
* Communicate effectively to internal and external customers
* Supply accurate information on operational status as and when required including shift handover
* Mentor and develop your team to aid progression, succession planning and skill sets.
* Liaising with the central planning team to analyse previous plans and build on improvements
Qualifications, Key Skills and Experience Required;
* CPC National desirable but not essential
* Experience in managing a HGV transport operation
* Experience in warehouse management
* Ideally experienced in cross dock warehouse operations, but not essential
* Effectively communicate at all levels in a variety of formats
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
* IOSH & health safety qualifications advantageous but not essential
* Experience working in a unionised environment advantageous but not essential
