Senior Ecologist – Ramboll, London

Your new role
* Be part of the Biodiversity and Ecosystems Global Service Line within the Environment and Health division.
* Work on projects ranging from commercial and residential development to transport infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
* Join a dynamic and expanding team delivering key projects and developing skills within the environmental consultancy sector.

Your key responsibilities
* Managing small to medium scale projects with input on large-scale EIA projects with support from ecology team leads
* Main point of contact with Ramboll project managers, clients, partner organisations, and sub-consultants
* Planning and undertaking ecological surveys and producing high-quality reports including habitat (e.g., Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment) and species surveys/reports
* Devising ecological mitigation design and delivery
* Liaising with ecological regulators and planning authorities
* Delivering technical work on complex projects
* Fee proposal preparation and assisting with client relationship management
* Supervision and management of more junior ecologists and input to resource planning
About You
* Experienced in fieldwork and application of survey techniques in accordance with best practice guidance; UKHab survey, habitat classification and condition assessment
* Solid understanding of biodiversity metrics and biodiversity enhancement opportunity analysis; proven skills in writing habitat/biodiversity management plans
* Familiar with digital data capture techniques in ecology fieldwork
* Proficient user of MS Word, MS Excel and ArcGIS
* Experienced project manager, able to manage interfaces between ecologists, GIS, landscape specialists and project managers to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain
* Effective written and spoken English communication
* Capable of producing clear and concise written documents
* Holding one or more protected species survey licences (ideally bats) and experience with development licences
* Good knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislation
* Understanding of planning systems in relation to development and integration of ecology
* Full clean driving licence; willingness to undertake surveys at unsociable hours and occasional working away from home
