Are you interested in a new challenge in Cornwall? We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to provide high quality clinical support to our Neonatal Nursing team. You will demonstrate leadership and managerial skills as well as clinical expertise in neonatal care, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. If you are excited by the challenges of working within a Neonatal Unit and have a passion for high standards of neonatal care, this could be the role for you. Main duties of the job
* Be a clinical expert within the speciality, providing nursing care at intensive, high dependency and special care levels
* Ensure provision of excellent, evidence-based care for infants and their families
* Assess each infant, plan care, implement and evaluate in negotiation with the family, with documentation
* Promote Family Centred Care and provide a welcoming, caring, safe environment
* Advocate for the infant and family, offering information and support services
* Commence discharge planning at admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services
* Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge to deliver holistic, evidence-based nursing care as per Scope of Practice
* Be aware of uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment in the department and community
* Review policies and standards for safe equipment use and new equipment
* Complete and facilitate neonatal competency packs
* Coordinate transfers and effectively communicate with other hospitals for critically ill infants
* Attend deliveries as part of the multidisciplinary resuscitation team
