Job overview
We seek to appoint an experienced band 6 Nurse who must have experience in Community working & working with children and their families. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of ADHD and Autism. Candidates will be supported to become competent in the management and review of children and young people with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mental health conditions who may also be taking medication and may have associated co- morbidities. You will be trained and supported to work in clinic settings as well as undertaking comprehensive assessments for a designated cohort of children from the neurodevelopmental pathway.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a real interest in and knowledge of ADHD and Autism and a commitment to working in partnership with other agencies and local communities to deliver the best possible outcomes to children, young people and their families.
The post holder will be contributing to a comprehensive initial assessment process. The role will include supporting the team to oversee the management of children with a confirmed or emerging diagnosis of a Neurodevelopmental condition. The service is currently undergoing an exciting transformation and internal remodeling of which the post holder will be invited to contribute towards.
Main duties of the job
3. Become competent in the referral management, assessment and treatment of children with emerging or diagnosed ADHD,/ ASD.
4. Become confident in the NICE guidance for medication reviews and work in partnership with the wider Neurodevelopmental pathway.
5. Required to make significant autonomous professional and clinical judgments on a daily basis, responding to situations as they arise.
6. Assessing and interpreting the needs of this special client group, and determining the appropriate actions to be taken, including advice to the multidisciplinary team.
7. Collaboratively assess, plan, implement and evaluate care with other health professionals, using approaches to meet the comprehensive needs of children with ADHD, ASD and other comorbidities.
8. Consider and analyse the biological, psychological and social factors of the service user. With consideration given to the formal treatment and / or intervention for a child’s emotional / behavioural presentation.
9. Formulate individual care plans based on the child’s identified needs, evidence based standards of care and working towards meeting the NICE guidelines.

The Specialist ADHD Nursing Service have previously won the 'Children's team of the Year' award at the Trust's Heart Awards.
The team have a 'can do' approach to all aspects of the service delivery. The team are approaching transformation collaboratively with UHDB and Joined Up care Derbyshire. The friendly and dynamic team mobilise to support one another and provide the best patient care they can at all times. We have a strong leadership structure and shared vision across the service. 28. Receive and provide clinical supervision as required, adhering to the Trusts Standards.
29. As required support the practice of students and trainees from a range of disciplines by being available to share practice and knowledge.
30. Monitor quality of own practice and that of the Service and participate in continuous quality improvement, via team meetings and participation in yearly Trust quality visits.
31. Participate in the management of change to embrace innovations and developments in the forthcoming transformation within the team and its application to practice.
32. To actively implement the Trust Values and Trust strategies in your daily clinical practice and evaluate the effectiveness of this through supervision, audit and appraisal.
33. To develop, provide and receive appropriate training on varied topics and aspects relevant to the role.
34. Demonstrate the efficient use of resources, whilst contributing to decisions surrounding team budgets
35. Demonstrate case load management for the service, ensuring time management and organisational skills to improve and prioritise waiting times.
36. Ability to demonstrate effective IT skills. All records and reports are recorded electronically.
