Senior Theatre Practitioner Scrub- Orthopaedics
Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground)
Salary: £43,000 to £53,051 per annum (dependent on experience) plus fantastic benefits
Full time: 37.5 hours p/w Monday to Saturday, plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, Spinal, Neuro, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Thoracic, Hepatobiliary, Urology and Gynaecology Da Vinci Robotic surgeries. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.
1. As a Senior Theatre Practitioner in orthopaedics/ spinal and Neuro, you will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team.
2. Participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care. Here at Bupa Cromwell Hospital, we cover 12 surgical specialties including complex procedures such as live organ transplants, heart surgeries and neurosurgery.
3. Assist in the positioning and preparation of patients as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
4. Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
5. Deliver immediate post-operative care and initial emergency care as required.
6. Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
7. Assist the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff.
8. Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
9. Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator.
10. Create and maintain legible and accurate records of care in accordance with BUPA and the Cromwell Hospitals’ local policies and procedures.
11. Assist in the management and organisation of the operating theatre(s).
12. Ensure the accurate collection of data in relation to theatre activity.
13. Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives
What you’ll bring:
14. NMC Registered Nurse (Adult and/or Children) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
15. Alternatively, HCPC registered with a Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies / ODP Level 3 NVQ / ODA 752.
16. Experience of working within an acute hospital setting.
17. Flexibility to take part in on-call rotas and rostered weekend duties.
18. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
