Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as SO1 Defence Requirements Authority for Culture and Language (DRACL) at Shrivenham on FTRS Home Commitment (HC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 02 Jan 2027 ( or earlier/later, subject to formal establishment and candidate status). Unit Function: DRACL is the proponent, on behalf of Director ISR and Commander IGDN for the Defence Culture and Language (C&L) Capability. Position Role: Lead DRACL in driving capability development for C&L across Defence. Responsibilities: Provide direct SME staff support to C&L governance structure. TRA’s agent (on behalf of DISR/DiGDN) for C&L and governance and assurance in the capability areas of language trg (foreign & ELT) and cultural trg. Provide Defence C&L policy, doctrine and direction and Defence lead for foreign language remuneration awards (circ £1.5M p/a). Through DSAT, bring rigour to C&L portfolio including systemic, objective trg needs analysis and external validation. Hold TP & TDA to account at CEB. Provide the MOD input and representation to all Partners Across Government / Cross Government C&L activities. Identify future C&L policy, requirements and capability gaps; develop and implement mitigation. Head of UK delegation, UK lead at NATO Bureau of International Language Cooperation conferences and implementation of STANAG 6001 policy in MOD. Run the MOD Language Assessment Board and the supporting contract (circa £2M over 4 yrs).
