Job Description
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Ad-Hoc Librarian to join our school team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about books, organisation, and supporting students' learning. You will oversee the school library during staff absences or busy periods, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and productive environment for pupils.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise the library during designated hours and maintain a calm, focused atmosphere.
* Assist students in finding and borrowing books and other learning resources.
* Organise, catalogue, and return library materials to shelves.
* Support students with research and use of library systems.
* Maintain accurate borrowing and return records.
* Promote a love of reading and encourage appropriate library use.
* Ensure the library is tidy, safe, and well-presented at all times.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a school library, classroom, or educational setting (preferred but not essential).
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and ability to engage with children of all ages.
* Basic IT skills (familiarity with library systems or willingness to learn).
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
* A flexible, reliable, and approachable attitude.
