Role Overview
As General Manager, you will take the helm of WPC, steering the company with strategic clarity, operational excellence, and visionary leadership. This is a pivotal role with full responsibility for delivering outstanding project outcomes, managing internal operations, and driving future growth. You will oversee project delivery, lead and develop a high-performing team, and ensure commercial performance across all aspects of the business. With a strong background in the construction industry, you will bring proven leadership capability and an entrepreneurial mindset to enhance WPC’s market position.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and direction to the company to drive sustainable growth.
* Support other management to ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
* Build and nurture a high-performing internal culture focused on accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
* Champion and drive a robust Health & Safety culture and practices across all sites.
* Collaborate closely with the Management team to align planning, budgeting, and on-site execution.
* Conduct regular site visits and audits to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
* Maintain clear and transparent reporting to the Executive Team on project and business performance.
* Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
* Contribute to company-wide strategic planning as a core member of the leadership team.
About You
* Proven leadership and delivery experience in the construction industry at a regional or national level.
* Strong knowledge of the New Zealand construction environment, including building codes, compliance, and delivery practices.
* Commercially astute, with a strong track record of delivering profitable projects.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
* A forward-thinking leader with an eye for operational efficiency, innovation, and continual improvement.
* Passionate about team development and fostering a positive, safety-first workplace culture.
Qualifications & Experience
* 10+ years' experience in senior construction leadership roles.
* Demonstrated success in managing a business and multidisciplinary teams.
* In-depth knowledge of NZS 3910, the Building Act, and New Zealand’s Health & Safety legislation.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
