We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed Pharmacy Technician to join the Hackney and Forensics pharmacy team. The post holder will lead on a full range of clinical & dispensing activities, using their enthusiasm to motivate the team to meet department deadlines, as well as participating in the line management of junior staff. You will use pharmacy computer systems and robotics to co-ordinate and maintain the supply of medicines.

You should have great communication and interpersonal skills; be flexible and adaptable; and be able to work in a dynamic environment.

You will be expected to develop good working relationships with other staff within pharmacy and with the multidisciplinary team.

All applicants must have completed a BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent and be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will possess an accreditation in medicines management training (AIMMS/MOPs) and have completed accredited checking technician training (ACPT), which is now included as part of the apprenticeship route.

The Hackney & Forensic pharmacy team works across 3 sites - Hackney Adults Mental Health, John Howard Centre and Wolfson House. We also covered some Hackney based mental health community teams.

Main duties of the job

* To assist with the provision of a high quality pharmacy service to patients of the Trust
* To undertake general dispensary, stores and procurement activities
* To take a lead in the day-to-day running of the Department
* To maintain the ACPT qualification
* To line manage, train and support junior staff
* To deliver high quality pharmacy optimisation service to patients of the trust and work closely with all pharmacy staff and maintain a close working relationship with other members of the multidisciplinary team
* To work in a number of different environments including mental health in-patient wards, PICU, Home Treatment Teams and the trust pharmacy dispensary.

Person Specification


Educational/ Qualification

* GPhC approved level 3 pharmacy services/technician qualification/course (i.e. BTEC/City & Guilds/NVQ3) or equivalent
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC or eligible to be registered
* Completed final accuracy checking training as part of the pharmacy technician qualification (post-2020) OR accredited with a final accuracy checking (ACPT) qualification
* Completed medicines optimisation training as part of the pharmacy technician qualification (post-2020) OR accredited with a medicine's optimisation qualification (AIMMs/MOPs)
* NVQ Assessor or Educational Supervisor qualification


Experience

* Experience in hospital pharmacy post qualification
* Working within a multidisciplinary team
* Previous Leadership and Management Experience
* Experience of dealing with the publicWard based clinical work
* Experience in teaching and training
* Previous experience of service quality measurement/audit
* Experience of ordering and invoicing
* Writing and Implementation of policies and procedures


Knowledge/ Skills

* Ability to plan, assess and monitor workload to meet deadlines
* Knowledge and proven experience of good stock control
* Ability to work independently and in an organised manner
* Conflict Resolution and Negotiation skills
* Ability to work carefully with attention to detail
* Has an understanding of the need for patient confidentiality
* Use of Microsoft Excel/Word to intermediate level
* Management of pharmacy robotics and IT systems
* Ability to plan and chair meetings
