Job Description

To be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference to children who need understanding, stability and emotional support the most? Do you have experience within education, residential children’s homes, youth support, mental health, or healthcare? If so, this role could be a perfect match.

We are working with an exceptional therapeutic SEMH provision that specialises in supporting children who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), disrupted schooling, and significant barriers to learning.

This setting offers a calm, nurturing and relationship-based environment, providing personalised learning, strong pastoral care and a restorative, non-punitive approach. Staff are trained in trauma-informed practice, therapeutic behaviour support, emotional coaching and de-escalation, and every child receives tailored pathways to rebuild trust, develop resilience and re-engage in education.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Build trusting, steady relationships with pupils aged 7–16 who may present with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, avoidance or challenging behaviour.
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support, promoting wellbeing, engagement and positive routines.
* Use restorative approaches, active listening, co-regulation, and therapeutic strategies to help pupils manage emotions.
* Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, outdoor learning, vocational tasks and experiential learning.
* Work collaboratively with Teachers, Pastoral Leads, Therapists, Family Support Teams, and Behaviour Specialists.
* Encourage independence, social skills, confidence and positive self-esteem.
* Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued.

This role is highly rewarding and ideal for someone who thrives in a setting where relationships come before curriculum and every day brings a fresh opportunity to make an impact. xsngvjr
