About the Client
Our client is a London-based technology-driven firm specializing in advanced market research, software development, and trading strategy. With a strong foundation in data science, programming, and automation, their team builds bespoke tools to support internal operations and explore new opportunities in financial and alternative markets.
As they continue to expand, they are now looking for a
Junior IT Systems Administrator
to join their close-knit and highly skilled technical team.
What You'll Do
As part of a small and collaborative IT operations team, you will play a vital role in managing and maintaining the company's internal infrastructure. Your responsibilities will grow over time, based on your initiative and reliability. Key areas you will be involved in include:
* Maintaining and supporting the company's network of on-site and remote servers
* Monitoring and troubleshooting internally developed software systems
* Managing the Microsoft Windows ecosystem
* Administering Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services
* Supporting storage technologies such as NAS and iSCSI
You'll be expected to take ownership of tasks and adapt quickly to new tools and systems. Flexibility, curiosity, and a proactive mindset will be key to your success.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is passionate about systems, well-organized, and eager to learn. Ideal candidates will have the following skills and experience:
Technical Skills:
* Practical experience with system administration in a Windows/Active Directory environment
* Basic networking knowledge (our client uses Juniper, but other experience is welcome)
* Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell, basic SQL, HTML, etc.)
* Exposure to Hyper-V or similar virtualisation platforms
* Hands-on hardware knowledge — from component selection to custom machine builds
* Any programming experience is a plus
Personal Attributes:
* Highly organised, with a preference for structure and planning
* Strong attention to detail — you take pride in getting things right the first time
* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
* Deep interest in computers and technology, and a strong desire to continue learning
* Willingness to provide support for a 24/7 operational business
* Reliable, mature, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
