We're looking for a proactive and dedicated Assistant Manager to support the General Manager with the day-to-day operations of our leisure facilities. This varied role includes team leadership, programme delivery, facility management, community engagement, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all. You'll also lead on a key corporate function such as Health & Safety, Aquatics or Group Fitness, depending on your skills and experience.
What you'll be doing
* Supporting the General Manager in the daily operations and administration of the facility
* Leading and managing operational teams, including recruitment, development, and performance management
* Monitoring and improving programmes and services to meet community needs and financial targets
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and organisational procedures
* Supporting marketing and promotion of the centre's activities
* Handling customer enquiries, complaints and ensuring high levels of service delivery
* Maintaining building and equipment security, managing stock, petty cash and financial records
* Assisting in planning and delivering events efficiently
* Providing occasional cover at other leisure sites as required
We're seeking someone with strong leadership skills, operational experience in a leisure setting, and a passion for delivering high-quality community-focused services. You'll be calm under pressure, organised, and customer-focused, with the ability to motivate a diverse team and manage multiple priorities.
Skills
Essential:
* Substantial experience in leisure operations and managing teams
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety in leisure environments, especially pools
* Ability to plan, organise and lead teams to meet targets and deadlines
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and resolve conflict
* Financial and administrative competence (cash handling, audit trails, stock)
* Able to interpret data and write reports
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
* First Aid at Work (or willing to obtain)
* Pool Lifeguard Qualification and Pool Plant Operator Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

This is a full-time position that includes evening and weekend work. The ability to respond to emergency call-outs and travel across sites is required.
