Position Summary:
This role involves responsible inventory and stores control work at a full performance level. Employees will have limited authority to expend county funds, use a county credit card for purchases, and manage inventory variances. Tasks include data entry, issuing, ordering, and receiving parts and services from vendors.
Starting Salary Range:
$23.65 - $27.42 per hour, or $49,192 - $57,034 annually.
Class Description:
This is advanced stores work involving receiving and issuing equipment and supplies. Work is performed under general supervision, requiring evaluative thinking and adherence to established policies. Responsibilities include safeguarding valuable materials, maintaining records, conducting inventories, and coordinating with vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Follow inventory procedures and interpret related documents.
* Perform data entry into the Fleet Inventory Management system, including receipts and disbursements.
* Prepare billing, procurement, and payment documents.
* Order materials, coordinate with vendors, and locate hard-to-find parts.
* Conduct cycle counts and resolve inventory discrepancies.
* Maintain vehicle and hazardous material records.
* Schedule vehicle maintenance and serve as the primary contact for Fleet operations.
* Manage Fleet Motor Pool vehicle issuance, logs, and condition assessments.
* Keep inventory areas organized and secure.
* Potentially train and supervise lower-level staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May oversee the work of one employee.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
* Knowledge of inventory control practices.
* Familiarity with motor vehicle parts cross-references.
* Proficiency in PC data entry and Windows software.
* CDL Driver’s License preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Requires physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and sitting. May involve exposure to moving parts, chemicals, and outdoor conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to read and interpret technical documents, perform basic calculations, and communicate effectively. A Class C Maryland driver’s license or equivalent is required.
