BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team for a 12‑month contract. This role offers hybrid working between home and our Camberley office until we officially relocate to our new Farnborough office next year.
Your team
* Monday to Friday 8.30 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing the weekly/monthly payroll and liaising with all levels of employees.
* Dealing with all payroll queries from employees.
* Comply with payroll timetables and policies.
* Assist the team in data manipulation and upload of payroll input data received from various areas of the business.
* Enjoy working on a large volume, busy payroll.
* Be process‑oriented, service‑driven, work well as part of the team.
* Actively involved in all aspects of administering and processing 3× weekly and 2× monthly payrolls.
* Maintain an Excel spreadsheet and calculate holiday pay for hourly employees.
* Maintain an Excel spreadsheet and calculate sick pay for employees.
* Delivery of all payroll activities as assigned and always ensuring a high level of accuracy.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels.
* Strong numerical competency with the ability to do manual calculations independently.
What you bring (required)
* Payroll experience in UK payroll, both weekly and monthly.
* Numerical competency in data entry and data conversion.
* Confidence in manual processing of payroll from start to finish.
* Payroll knowledge on current payroll legislation (SSP, SMP, SPP, NIC and Attachment of Earnings Order).
* Proven track record of delivering payroll and continually improving payroll processes (manual and Excel‑based).
* Clear and logical thinking and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and deliver strong results.
Desirable requirements
* Able to manipulate and upload large amounts of data on Excel with high accuracy.
* Collate and prepare time and attendance data for payroll on Excel using VLOOKUPs to meet payroll deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with intermediate skills of VLOOKUPs and pivots.
* Knowledge of iTrent, ePayfact & Business Objects desirable, but not essential.
* Knowledge of processing payroll in construction industry.
* Experienced with Payroll & Pension reconciliations.
* Experience using various payroll systems and ability to adapt and learn new systems.
* BIK experience, processing P11d’s and payrolling benefits.
