Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a cleaner to join the domestic team of 3 at Boultham Park Medical practice.
Applicants need to be diligent, hardworking and trustworthy and able to follow procedures and instruction. A good work ethic is necessary and the ability to work as part of a team, essential.
Full training will be provided and all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
Working hours are 8 hours per week Monday to Friday, 05:30am - 07:30am.
Responsibilities
* High level and low level dusting; cleaning of lavatories and basins; vacuuming carpeted floors and mopping clinical floors; cleaning of clinical areas; internal windows and glass panels; replenishing product dispensers; wiping window blinds; ensuring the National Cleaning Standards are maintained.
* Monitor stock levels and notify the Practice Manager of any products that need re-ordering; ensure all PPE is available to the domestic team; cover other cleaners during annual leave or sickness.

Boultham Park Medical Practice is an urban GP Practice located just to the south of the centre of the city of Lincoln. Our clinical team comprises 4 GP Partners, 1 Pharmacist partner, 3 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and a team of Practice Nurses and Healthcare Support Staff. The clinical team is supported by reception and admin support teams who are essential in making the practice work efficiently. We are a hardworking, mutually supportive team, renowned for being professional and friendly. We are looking for the successful candidate to be of the same calibre and with a similar work ethic to maintain and enhance team cohesion and effectiveness.

Place of work: Boultham Park Medical Practice
Post title: Cleaner - 10 hours per week
Primary role: Providing a safe, clean and tidy environment for patients and practice staff
Responsible to: Practice Manager
Daily, Weekly and Monthly Tasks
The cleaners responsibility is to ensure that the practice premises are clean and tidy. Tasks should be carried out daily, weekly and monthly, with initiative encouraged.
* Daily Tasks
* Vacuum all areas of the surgery
* Empty bins and paper shredder into the correctly coloured bags: i. Clinical Waste Yellow Sacks; ii. Household Waste Orange Sacks; iii. Shredding Material Blue or Black Sacks
* Clean sinks and working surfaces; disinfect toilets; damp dust; tidy rooms; notify Practice Manager of breakages or hazards; wash up items in consulting rooms and the Common Room; clean kitchen worktops; wash floors; maintain supplies of cleaning materials; disinfect patient couches twice weekly; turn off lights, set alarm and lock surgery when leaving
* Weekly Tasks
* Polish furniture and reception desk; clean telephones; check stock and leave a note for the Practice Manager; clean glass inside doors; clean fridge and kitchen cupboards; spot clean carpet stains; clean brass doctors name plates; dust chair legs; remove cobwebs; empty vacuum bag; arrange rubbish collection
* Monthly Tasks
* High dust accessible areas; de-scale taps and sinks; dust and clean skirting boards; wash and attempt to remove marks from walls; clean light switches
Infection Control, Confidentiality, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Quality
Infection Control: adhere to hygiene standards; use separate cloths for toilets, work surfaces, sinks and examination couches; disinfect cloths between uses and wash daily; wash dusters after use.
Confidentiality: maintain patient and staff confidentiality in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
Health and Safety: promote own and others health and safety; use approved cleaning substances; ensure COSHH data sheets are available; store cleaning materials safely.
Equality and Diversity: respect rights and dignity of patients, carers and colleagues; be welcoming and non-judgmental.
Quality: assess own performance, support team effectiveness, manage time and resources.
Communication Requirements: communicate effectively with the Practice Manager to notify problems, obtain instructions and request supplies; maintain a friendly and polite image when in contact with patients during surgery hours.
Prospective compliance and audits
The post holder will participate in the implementation of policies, standards and guidance; take part in audits, including the annual Infection Control Audit with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; a DBS disclosure will be required.
