Overview

Fire & Security Systems - Service Supervisor role at Global Fire & Security Systems. Full Time - £DOE + Appropriate Package.


Job Purpose

In this dynamic and multifaceted role, you will be a cornerstone of our engineering operations, providing essential support to the Field Line Manager. You’ll lead a diverse team of engineers, ensuring the seamless delivery of all engineering services within KPI guidelines.


Key Accountabilities

* Create an environment where engineers are motivated to achieve their best, leading by example with a strong commitment to excellence.
* Work closely with the Field Line Manager to develop and implement strategies that promote continuous improvement and enhance team efficiency.
* Provide mentorship and training to team members, helping them develop their technical skills and fostering a culture of ongoing learning and development.
* Assist in the induction of new team members, ensuring they are fully prepared with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
* Actively participate in engineering tasks, providing practical, on-the-ground support and troubleshooting complex systems, products, and issues.
* Offer over-the-phone technical assistance to team members, helping them resolve challenges swiftly and efficiently.
* Regularly conduct health and safety audits within the engineering team, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Develop and enforce action plans to address any safety concerns, maintaining a safe working environment for all team members.
* Monitor and ensure that all engineering tasks are completed to the highest standards, meeting both customer expectations and business objectives.
* Serve as the primary communication link between field operations and the office, ensuring clear and consistent information flow.
* Facilitate feedback from the field to management, helping to refine processes and improve service delivery.
* Plan and schedule work assignments, effectively organising personnel and material resources to meet project timelines and objectives.
* In addition to the Supervisory accountabilities, you will also have an element of Engineer responsibilities, such as: ensure that all equipment and services are maintained and operated in a safe condition to comply with Health & Safety requirements.
* Monitor regular inspection procedures (preventative maintenance programme) of equipment and record inspection reports.
* Keep logs of inspection reports and remedial work.
* Have working knowledge of statutory regulations and ensure awareness of all safety procedures.
* Undertake electrical repairs and installations as appropriate.
* Maintain and service fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems (Ansul R102).
* Report any defects at time of service visit and carry out works specified.
* Be responsible for vehicle and stock control of materials and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.


Training Provided

* Ideally, experience of servicing and maintenance of electrical fire systems equipment, such as GENT, Notifier Advanced, Kentec.
* If you also have experience of Ansul R102 systems and servicing Fire Extinguishers, that’s great, but training can be provided for the rest if you have the right aptitude and some of the required skills.


About You

* Some demonstrable Fire Industry experience is preferred
* Ideally FIA qualifications
* Possibly City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
* IEE 18th Edition Regulations would be ideal
* Some experience of electrical fire life safety works within the services sector would be great
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Excellent customer service skills
* Sound knowledge of contract terms and pricing
* People management skills
* Ability to create and build strong relationships with a professional approach
* Full UK driving licence
* Able to work at heights up to 3 metres and lift weights up to 25 kg
* Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively
