Envirocare Maintenance Solutions are opening a brand-new depot around the Wakefield area and we are looking for an experienced Contract / Depot Manager to lead this exciting expansion. Required experience and qualities are proven management experience within grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture, someone with strong leadership and organisational skills, the ability to motivate and coordinate multiple teams. An excellent communicator whilst being competent with IT systems for scheduling, reporting, and documentation. A full UK driving licence essential. You’ll be responsible for setting up and managing the depot from day one; overseeing day-to-day operations, leading multiple teams, and ensuring that client sites are maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on management position that combines people leadership, operational planning, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Depot Management
* Oversee and support multiple grounds maintenance teams (currently 4 teams of 2, with plans to grow further)
* Manage work schedules, ensuring resources and routes are planned efficiently across client sites
* Conduct regular team briefings to communicate targets, safety information, and upcoming projects
* Ensure staff have access to the correct tools, vehicles, PPE, and uniforms, maintaining stock control at the depot
* Lead by example in promoting a strong culture of health, safety, and quality across all operations
* Support training and development, identifying skills gaps and opportunities for progression within the teams
* Plan and monitor the delivery of grounds maintenance contracts to ensure all work meets client specifications and SLAs
* Carry out site inspections and quality audits, ensuring high standards of workmanship are maintained.
* Resolve any on-site issues promptly, working closely with supervisors and operatives to keep projects on track
* Coordinate the maintenance and servicing of machinery and vehicles, ensuring compliance and reliability
General Management & Reporting
* Monitor and report on contract performance, budgets, and productivity
* Ensure compliance with all company procedures, health & safety regulations, and environmental standards
* Working closely with senior management to support the company’s growth strategy in the Yorkshire region
