This is an ideal post for a creative and enthusiastic Principal Psychologist who enjoys working with individuals and teams in fast paced environments. Mental Health Liaison work at the interface between physical and mental health services supporting individuals in physical health acute environments with their mental health needs. As a psychologist in this role the work brings together clinical health psychology approaches and traditional mental health approaches to intervention. Liaison with teams across transition is a core part of the role and so having the ability to build strong relationships is vital.
You will be supported in the role through: supervision with the Head of Clinical Health Psychology; peer relationships with Principal Psychologists in Liaison and wider Clinical Health Psychology Services; 8a psychologist and CAP directly in the team. There are wider opportunities to take part in leadership projects within Clinical Health Psychology and across the Psychological Services Directorate. We have teaching and research opportunities linked to local DClinPsy courses. CPD related to the role is supported.
Main duties of the job
* Offering and leading on development of the psychological approaches and interventions for mental health liaison to permit the most effective outcomes for people referred to the service.
* Leading a small team of psychology professionals working into a mental health liaison team and supporting their development.
* Building relationships with partners across mental health and physical health environments to support effective transitions.
* Co-development of training packages for the mental health liaison team and wider hospital.
* Working with Principal Psychologists in Liaison across the Essex footprint to support equity of service.
* To work as part of the wider Clinical Health Psychology leadership team to support development and awareness of Clinical Health Psychology in the Trust and partner agencies.

Qualifications
* Completed Doctoral Level Training with HCPC equivalence.
* Has completed further training in a specialty related to the post.
Skills
* Demonstrates having worked with a range of mental health presentations.
* Demonstrates skills in using more than one psychological intervention in practice to a skilled level.
* Demonstrates skills in leadership - including supervision and service development.
* Demonstrates skills in teaching an training.
* Has worked in physical health environments.
* Has worked in Mental Health Liaison previously.
* Has completed specialist training in an intervention related to the post to a high level.
Knowledge
* Has worked in MDT environments and is able to consider the complexity of team dynamics and ways of working with this.
* Has worked in faced paced environments/wards and understands the demands of these enviroments.
* Demonstrates awareness of challenges in working in interface spaces.
* Demonstrates awareness of need to understand wider systems in relation to the post.
