Nurse / Midwife Practitioner - 37.5 hours

2 units: Milton Keynes and Northampton. Weekly travel required.
Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife passionate about reproductive healthcare? We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical teams within our units. Full-time 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
About the role
Provide high quality clinical care across BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception and vasectomy. Involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation to treatment, work in all unit areas including theatre and recovery. Provide treatment and clinical information to clients in person and over the phone.
About You
Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or practising Midwife with active NMC registration and PIN. Minimum 12 months clinical practice experience and keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge and experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies essential.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach to client care.
Main duties of the job
* Work in accordance with NMC guidelines and relevant regulatory frameworks and BPAS clinical policies.
* Ensure clients understand their options and, where appropriate, that they meet the grounds of the Abortion Act.
* Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests, provide results and discuss future contraceptive choices.
* Implement procedures indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for medical abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
* Carry out post‑treatment check‑ups and discuss any concerns.
* Complete relevant paperwork and refer to NHS agencies if necessary.
* Care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments, including general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
Additional skills we are looking for
* Accurate administrative competence with attention to detail.
* Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant speciality (sexual health, contraception).
* Venepuncture / cannulation skills.
* Comfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Teams.

Salary
£39,959 – £46,656 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
Shift Pattern
* Monday, Tuesday, Friday – 09:30 to 17:30 – Northampton.
* Wednesday, Thursday – 09:30 to 17:30 – Milton Keynes.
Locations
BPAS Northampton will be your base unit with mileage paid to Milton Keynes as per the expenses policy.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 / Registered Midwife (practising).
* Active NMC registration and valid PIN.
* Ultrasound scanning skills.
Experience
* Minimum 12 months clinical practice experience.
* Experience of general nursing or midwifery.
* Experience completing client documentation and working within guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements and infection control.
* Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant speciality (sexual health, contraception).
General
* Support woman's right to choose abortion.
* Travel to both Milton Keynes and Northampton units required weekly.
* Commitment to 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.
