Job Introduction
We are looking to recruit a number of high calibre Accountants to join our Finance Operations team based in Cardiff.
Finance Operations is at the heart of BBC Finance, delivering an integrated, sustainable and high quality process accounting and reporting service to our business and finance customers.
We are recruiting across various teams within Finance Operations, and will align the best skills to the most suitable areas.
Main Responsibilities
As an Accountant in Financial Operations, your key duties will involve the following:
* Contribute to reporting processes to ensure the financial position and performance of the Division is understood and key issues are rectified, ensuring appropriate process is observed with control over sub ledgers and integration with the general ledger
* Manage the accurate recording of transactions in the ERP general ledger, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls and improving efficiency and controls of financial processes, methodologies and environments where possible
* Take responsibility for month end, quarter end and annual accounting processes, managing the processes and working with a wide range of stakeholders
* Support the Finance Controller with the efficient delivery of internal and external audits, and collaborate with outsourced partner, FP&A team, divisional stakeholders where appropriate
* Document and implement accounting judgements in accordance with BBC policy and accounting standards
* Compile and review balance sheet reconciliations supported by appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and our minimum expected requirements, with fully evidenced and substantiated balances.
Are you the right candidate?
To be successful in this role you will need to:
* Hold a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
* Have significant experience of delivering a high-quality accounting service.
* Possess highly developed communication skills with the ability to influence.
* Strong planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
* Be able to take complex data/principles and to communicate these in an understandable way to wider BBC team
* Have knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls.
