As a Retail Assistant, you will support the team in encouraging sales, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of stock presentation and store cleanliness.
You will be responsible for:
* Assisting the Retail Manager in maximizing sales through high standards of display, proper stock rotation, and realistic pricing on donated items.
* Processing donated goods according to standards and timeframes, ensuring pricing aligns with charity guidelines.
* Maximizing Gift Aid income and overseeing the display and administration of bought-in goods to minimize stock loss.
* Engaging with customers and coaching volunteers and staff to have positive conversations, encourage donations, and promote our loyalty scheme.
* Engaging with the community to drive repeat business, donations, volunteer recruitment, and community involvement.
* Managing volunteers and ensuring all staff and volunteers follow Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
* Taking responsibility for the overall management and operation of the store in the absence of the Retail Manager.
Key Criteria:
* Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion or clothing.
* Experience with cash handling and financial procedures, including sales records.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and tactful communication.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good organizational skills and workload prioritization.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures in retail.
* Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.
