Job overview
The Chalfonts Community College is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join our newly established Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for students with Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA). This role will initially focus on Key Stage 3 students but will grow alongside the cohort into Key Stage 4. The ARP aims to provide a nurturing, structured environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This is a unique opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about creating and shaping an inclusive, trauma-informed educational experience for students with SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality teaching across the curriculum to SEMH students.
* Tailor lessons to meet the needs of students with EBSNA, implementing trauma-informed practices.
* Work collaboratively with a dedicated class TA and subject departments in the main school for curriculum support.
* Provide academic and emotional support, including safe and well checks and outreach to students in Alternative Provisions (APs).
* Develop and implement personalised learning plans, in partnership with the SENDCo and Vice Principal for SEND and Pastoral.
* Contribute to the design and development of the ARP, with potential for leadership progression.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Ability to teach across the curriculum, with a focus on flexibility and creativity.
* Caring, supportive, resilient nature.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for outreach and home visits.
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to inclusive education.
Desirable:
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed teaching and behaviour support strategies.
* Experience teaching students with SEMH needs or in alternative provision.
* Familiarity with virtual learning or blended education.
* Experience or interest in taking on leadership responsibilities as the ARP expands.

Our College
The Chalfonts Community College converted to Academy status in 2011 and is a larger-than-average community academy with a roll of 1400 students. Our last Ofsted Inspection was carried out in November 2022, when the College was judged as 'good' overall. Extra Curricular Activities
At Chalfonts Community College, we aim to ensure that the whole child is catered for with extra-curricular opportunities including theatre visits, music performances, sports clubs and teams and a wide range of other events. Our Performing Arts productions are renowned for their outstanding quality, and our sports teams compete at local, regional and national levels. Pastoral Care
We understand the importance of keeping students safe, happy, and secure. Each of our students is assigned a personal tutor who remains with them through Years 7 to 11. In the Sixth Form, personal tutors assist with university and work applications. We also provide support from Learning Mentors, our Inclusion Manager and our excellent Learning Support Department.
