Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Service Manager (Commercial System)
Reports to: Company Directors
Hours: Full Time
Location: Office based with site visits and offsite client meetings
About The Job:
We are seeking a skilled Service Manager to oversee all aspects of the service department ensuring the effective management of site inspections, testing, repairs, and maintenance. This role is responsible for leading service engineers and subcontractors, coordinating engineer schedules, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with both industry standards (LPS 1048 Technical Bulletin TB203 Rules) and health & safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining and strengthening client relationships across existing accounts while proactively developing a continuous pipeline of new service and maintenance opportunities with both current and new clients.
Schedule, coordinate, and oversee inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair services to ensure timely delivery and compliance with LPS 1048 Technical Bulletin TB203 rules, while ensuring all processes adhere to GN12 service and maintenance requirements.
Lead, train, and supervise both service engineers and administrative staff to ensure high performance and the delivery of a best-in-class service.
Schedule, coordinate, and oversee inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair services.
Prepare and review service estimates, proposals, and contracts to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client requirements and First Fire’s company policies.
Demonstrate and apply strong technical problem-solving skills to effectively address service and maintenance challenges.
Contribute as part of the management team by supporting new commercial projects and driving the achievement of overall company objectives.
Report to senior management during weekly meetings on the performance of the service and maintenance department, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Manage and review external contractors and suppliers in line with company monitoring processes to ensure quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
Participate in external company audits to ensure compliance with standards, including BRE Product Management (LPCB Certification), Health & Safety, and Quality Management ISO 9001:2015
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Sprinkler Fire Protection industry, with proven background in supervising and managing service and maintenance works.
Strong business development mindset, with the drive to grow new opportunities while nurturing First Fire Services' established and loyal client base.
Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability, applying industry knowledge to deliver effective and commercially viable solutions.
Ability to lead and manage a team of service engineers, including monitoring skill sets, identifying training needs, and providing mentoring and support.
Provide leadership and direction to the internal business support team, ensuring smooth execution of tasks and processes.
Knowledge of the LPS1048 Standard and TB203 Rules is highly advantageous, as these underpin daily operations within the Service & Maintenance department.
Internally: reviewing and verifying engineer reports, preparing compliant quotations, and advising clients on regulatory requirements.
Externally: ensuring maintenance works are carried out in line with the standard, checking documentation accuracy, and participating in external audits with BRE.
Electrical knowledge would be considered a valuable bonus.
Holds the now industry standard ABBE Level 3 Award in Inspection & Commissioning of Commercial Fire Sprinkler Systems Certification, which would also be beneficial. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake this course as part of their personal development after a successful probationary period.
