CNC Machinist / Fabrication Technician CV4 £25.00ph LTD Contract Contract Opportunity-Min 6 Months. We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Fabrication Technician to join a leading advanced engineering and prototype manufacturing environment based in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to support low-volume prototype and development builds across a range of high-performance engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in manufacturing and modifying components for specialist build and test operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Set, operate, and program 3‑axis CNC milling machinery
* Manual turning and milling of prototype and low-volume components
* Manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings and specifications
* Support fabrication and welding activities where required
* Carry out self‑inspection and quality checks on completed work
* Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
* Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards within the workshop
* Work independently and collaboratively to provide machining solutions
* Support continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations
Essential Experience
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent within Mechanical Engineering / Machining
* Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC machinery
* Manual lathe and milling experience
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
* Experience machining a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
* Strong understanding of basic measurement and inspection principles
* Good problem‑solving ability and capable of working independently
* Basic PC skills
Desirable Experience
* ProtoTRAK SMX control experience
* Experience operating XYZ machinery
* Fabrication and welding experience
* CAD software knowledge
* Overhead crane, slinging, and lifting experience
* Understanding of H&S, COSHH, and environmental procedures
