Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Analysis
* Deliver highlevel technical expertise in electrothermal modelling and analysis for MV/HV cable technologies.
* Lead, manage, and document research and development projects.
* Develop, refine, and maintain cable rating methodologies and analytical strategies.
* Establish standards for technical documentation and reporting.
* Perform advanced scientific calculations, simulations, and analytical studies.
* Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers as required.
Product Lifecycle Support
* Provide technical guidance throughout the full product lifecycle.
* Support activities such as:
* Identifying technical risks and reviewing client specifications
* Addressing nonconformances, design rule deviations, and project concessions
* Responding to complex technical queries, calculations, and analysis requests
Innovation & Continuous Improvement

You’ll Excel in This Role If You Have:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering—preferably Electrical Engineering or Physics. Candidates with Mechanical Engineering backgrounds and relevant postgraduate experience will also be considered.
* Significant experience in electromagnetic and thermal analysis using FEA, analytical techniques, and multiphysics simulations, ideally applied to highvoltage cable systems.
* Proficiency with industrystandard simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) or equivalent proprietary software.
* Deep understanding of thermal rating methodologies and electromagnetic/thermal problemsolving approaches.
* Strong analytical and mathematical capability, including coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
* Detailed knowledge of submarine cable design, construction, ratings, and operational considerations.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, CIGRE) and their application to cable design and thermal rating.
* Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and perform effectively in fastpaced environments.
* Competence with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable Attributes
* A higher degree (MEng, MSc, PhD) in a relevant field; Chartered Engineer status is advantageous.
* Experience working within an R&Dfocused environment.
* A track record of publishing technical papers or contributing to industry forums, working groups, or conferences.
* Experience delivering work within demanding project schedules.
* Broader knowledge of submarine cable or umbilical systems, including areas such as mechanical design, testing, manufacturing, offshore installation, or system operation.
* Familiarity with cable design and rating tools (e.g., CYMCAP).
* Additional experience with advanced FEA tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.
