Hill McGlynn is working with a reputable regional main contractor seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team based out of the Maidstone office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated procurement professional to contribute to high-profile construction projects across the region, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractor services for various construction projects.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
* Negotiating prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve best value.
* Ensuring procurement activities comply with company policies and health & safety standards.
* Supporting project teams in procurement planning and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
* Monitoring market trends and identifying new sources of supply.
* Assisting in cost control and budget management related to procurement activities.
* Tracking and managing purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience in procurement within the construction industry, ideally with main contractor experience.
* M&E buying experience would be a distinct advantage.
