We are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a range of vehicles including HGVs and vans. The role involves workshop and mobile work, supporting breakdowns when required, and ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy, safe, and compliant with legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out servicing, inspections, MOT preparation, and preventative maintenance inspections (PMI) on HGVs, vans, and company vehicles.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
* Perform breakdown call-outs and roadside repairs when required.
* Complete accurate service and repair records in line with company and legal requirements.
* Work independently or as part of a team to deliver high-quality, efficient maintenance support.
* Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and DVSA regulations.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
* Assist with workshop duties and support colleagues where needed.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as an HGV mechanic / technician (experience with vans and light commercial vehicles is preferred but not essential).
* Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
* Experience with breakdowns and roadside assistance desirable.
* Familiar with MOT prep, servicing schedules, and PMI requirements.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Qualifications
* Relevant Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
* Valid HGV licence – preferred but not essential.
* Full UK driving licence.
