Design Engineer – Recovery Vehicles
Design office. Design Engineer. Recovery Vehicles. £40k-£48k per year. Droitwich. Full‑time On‑site. Reports to Engineering Manager.
Key responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical systems and structures for recovery vehicles — bodies, booms, subframes, platforms and hydraulic interfaces.
* Create 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
* Produce 2D technical drawings in AutoCAD for manufacturing and assembly.
* Ensure designs comply with safety standards, regulations, and load requirements.
* Perform basic engineering calculations for strength, load capacity, and material selection.
* Collaborate with production, fabrication teams, and suppliers for practical, cost‑effective designs.
* Maintain accurate documentation, part lists, and revision control.
* Assist with continuous improvement of existing vehicle designs.
Required qualifications & experience
* Education: BEng / equivalent in Mechanical or Design Engineering.
* Autodesk Inventor: 5+ years – 3D modelling & assemblies.
* AutoCAD 2D: 5+ years – detailed engineering drawings.
* Manufacturing: Welding, fabrication & machining processes.
* Technical skills: Read specs, problem‑solve, strong attention to detail.
* Desirable skills: Heavy‑duty / recovery vehicles, Hydraulic systems, Structural steel & load‑bearing design, Independent multi‑project management.
