Job title: Childrens Home Team Leader

Salary:Starting from £28,883 per year (£13.89/hour) + £53£63.60 per sleep-in

Job type:Full-time, permanent (40 hours per week)

Location:Burghfield, RG7 (West Berkshire)

Amegreen Childrens Services provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in warm, nurturing homes across rural West Berkshire and Hampshire.

Our teams use a trauma-informed, PACE-based approach to help children and young people feel safe, understood and able to grow. With strong clinical input and a warm, reflective staff culture, we create environments where children can thrive and staff feel supported to do meaningful work.

The role

We are looking for a dedicated and confident Childrens Home Team Leader to support and guide our care teams in delivering high-quality, child-focused residential care.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in residential childcare who is ready to take the next step into a formal leadership role. You will lead by example on shift, support good practice across the home and help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment for children and young people.

You will work closely with the Registered Manager and wider team to maintain high standards of care, support staff development and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.

Key responsibilities

* Supervise and support a team of Residential Support Workers
* Deliver regular staff supervision, mentoring and day-to-day guidance
* Assist the Registered Manager in maintaining high standards across the home
* Support with audits, care planning, documentation and risk management
* Role model best practice in child-centred care
* Maintain strong safeguarding and behaviour management practices
* Promote a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach in daily practice
* Build positive, consistent relationships with children and young people
* Contribute to the smooth, safe day-to-day running of the home

Essential requirements

* Previous experience in residential childcare
* Experience in a senior support, shift leader or similar role is preferred
* Confidence in supervising staff and supporting team development
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this
* Strong communication, organisational and safeguarding awareness
* Ability to remain calm, consistent and resilient in a fast-paced environment
* Full UK driving licence desirable, but not essential
* Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
