Fitter (HGV Field Service Engineer) – Lanes Group

Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and high‑pressure jetting systems used in drain and sewer cleaning operations.
* Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on the fleet, including hydraulic components.
* Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, providing on‑site repairs to minimise downtime.
* Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and rectify technical issues.
* Analyse recurring problems with the wider team and implement preventive measures.
* Stay up‑to‑date with legislation, industry standards and Lanes Group policies; ensure all activities comply with health and safety, environmental and industry best practices.
* Promote and enforce safe working practices across the team.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Strong background in commercial HGV vehicle servicing.
* Class B driving licence with fully recognised industry qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent). Class C+E / HGV Class 2 drivers licence are essential.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications are desirable.
* Previous water industry experience preferred; hydraulics experience desirable.
* Hard‑working, respectful, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Location & Working Hours
Based out of the Ryemeads depot (Ware, Hertfordshire), travelling across the Waste Network Services catchment. Monday to Friday, 40 hours week.
Salary & Benefits
£55,000 per annum (dependent on experience). Benefits include 21 days holiday (plus bank holidays), health cash plan, free on‑site parking, auto‑enrolment pension scheme, company van and fuel card, friendly working environment, and a supportive team culture.
