Project and Impact Officer (Sport & Active Lifestyles)

Salary: Grade 6 (£33,951 – £39,906 p.a. depending on experience)

Contract Duration: 6 months (fixed term)

This role will be based on the university campus, with a hybrid option and flexible working arrangements available.

Role Overview

You will lead a pilot project on supporting more active lifestyles in the face of climate change. Working with the three Active Partnerships in the region, supported by Sport England, and in collaboration with our Commissioners, you will:

* Build a network of key stakeholders across the region to address the interplay between sport, health and climate change.
* Boost active lifestyles by increasing awareness and encouraging investment to make sport and active‑lifestyle facilities resilient to climate impacts and more environmentally positive.
* Address inequalities by developing an understanding of the most at‑risk groups for inactivity and lack of access to sport and outdoor spaces, and finding ways to reduce these gaps.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders in sport, wellbeing and active lifestyles.
* Gather existing data and insights to scope opportunities for inclusive implementation of the Every Move strategy and the region’s Climate Action Plan.
* Represent the Commissions nationally and internationally, promoting work and building partnerships.
* Support routine operations of the Climate Commissions, including quarterly meetings and annual events.
* Champion fair and just transitions, ensuring support for vulnerable communities and amplifying underrepresented voices.

What We Offer

* 26 days holiday plus approximately 16 bank holidays (total 42 days a year).
* Generous pension scheme and life assurance.
* Health and wellbeing benefits: discounted staff membership at the campus gym, pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit and sports halls.
* Personal development: access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team.
* On‑site childcare, shopping discounts and travel schemes available.
