Health Care Assistant - General Practice
Previous experience of working in General Practice is essential for this role. Assisting trainednurses and other health care professionals in the delivery of the higheststandard of patient care, ensuring that this is sensitive to the needs of thepatient. To be a member of the practicebased nursing team. Members of thenursing team/medical team will supervise you at all time working to your jobdescription and within your capabilities.
Main duties of the job

Communicate courteously and effectively with patients, relatives and carers.Ensure that the Practice Treatment room is kept in a clean and tidy.
Carry out health assessments on newly registeredpatients or selected patient groups
Report all matters pertaining to patients care- changes in condition/circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing ormedical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a document record is kept.
Once trained you may undertake phlebotomy asdirected by the Practice Nurses.
Act at all times with regard to theconfidentiality and sensitivity of issues to do with patients, their care andtreatment.
Record and document all patient contact.

Your duties willinclude:

All such records areconsidered public records, and you have a legal duty of confidence to serviceusers (even after the employee has left the practice employment).

Person Specification
Specialist Knowledge/Skills
* IT literate / proficient in the use of a computer
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
* Good problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage workload effectively
* Willingness to work at all times towards the best interest of the patient.
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Venepuncture
* Patient medicals including pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes
* Experience of effectively using EMIS/Docman
