Location: We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engagement Technician to join the Customer Field Services team working for our Network Health Manager at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers, located across South Yorkshire and regional travelling may be required. Our Risk and Control Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Yorkshire water operates and maintains 55,000km of public sewers alongside 5 million customers throughout the Yorkshire region. The disposal of inappropriate wastes including fats, oils and greases (FOG), has significant impact on the performance of our sewers, occasionally resulting in blockages with subsequent flooding to properties and pollutions to the environment. The Network Engagement Technician will support the delivery of industry leading customer service and operational excellence in line with the required Yorkshire Water business performance. Required to protect Yorkshire Waters assets from network abuse whilst also Implementing our businesses network protection policies. The role will support the Network Protection Team in identifying the sources of FOG and network abuse. The role will also be involved in audits of commercial premises to identify high risk practices, as well as distributing guidance on good waste disposal practices, to reduce the impact of FOG in the public sewer. The Network Engagement Technician will also be part of the delivery of educational campaigns and will support closely the communication and engagement strategies for network protection. Activities will include drop-in sessions, council meetings, school visits, press engagements and supporting internal colleague engagement. They will follow the enforcement process against those commercial businesses who are repeat offenders in network abuse, ensuring that evidence gathered supports the enforcement process, from informal advice, through staged letters and cautions, to court action. The role will also heavily support the innovative projects we have in place to change customer behaviour in relation to FOG and network abuse. Where you fit in! Support investigations in relation to network abuse problem areas. Ensuring the collation and gathering of evidence is completed to a high standard to support the recovery of cleaning and renovation costs. Evidence collated will form part of the legal proceeding in relation to undertaking legal action against the customer where appropriate. The evidence will be used in court so there is a real need to follow the strictest procedures to ensure regulatory and legal compliance. This role has a regional focus and will require the ability to travel with some out of hours work to meet business owners during business opening hours. What skills, experience and qualifications you will need: Able to demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, with a strong emphasis on empathy, active listening, and clarity.
