Salary: up to £65,000 per annum
Study Group will deliver a selection of post-graduate and under-graduate courses for the University of Huddersfield (UoH) at its new Business School in London. Several pathway programmes designed to progress to these courses will also be offered. The campus aims to attract a diverse international student body seeking high-quality teaching from UoH with strong employability options in London.
The Principal Lecturer will lead a teaching team within the Business School, providing academic leadership for the delivery of UoH’s taught courses and Study Group’s pathway courses. Responsibilities include implementing quality assurance procedures, monitoring academic regulations, managing teaching allocations, promoting scholarly activity, and ensuring excellent student outcomes and experiences. Liaison with UoH representatives on academic and quality assurance matters is also required.
About the Role
1. Provide inspirational leadership across academic teams and collaborate with campus management, UoH, and Study Group teams on learning & teaching strategies.
2. Implement continuous improvements to achieve targets for student outcomes and progression.
3. Oversee curriculum planning and staffing requirements.
4. Participate in meetings, forums, and projects within the Study Group network.
5. Attend and contribute to partnership boards and committees, reporting regularly on performance.
6. Review student feedback and stakeholder input to identify development opportunities.
7. Manage and lead the academic team, supporting professional development and research activities.
8. Recruit qualified academic staff to meet accreditation standards.
9. Plan resource allocation within budget to meet operational goals.
10. Organize peer observations and develop personal development plans.
11. Foster business engagement and embed employability into curricula.
12. Support scholarly activity and liaise with UoH on projects.
13. Ensure effective delivery of courses in line with validation and quality standards.
14. Identify opportunities for new courses and enhancements.
15. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure quality and student satisfaction.
16. Monitor academic indicators and implement interventions as needed.
17. Represent Study Group and UoH positively in external activities.
18. Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and assessment integrity.
19. Participate in accreditation and review processes.
20. Maintain high service levels and regulatory compliance.
21. Develop relationships with UoH contacts and facilitate collaboration.
22. Identify opportunities to grow the partnership and campus development.
23. Perform additional duties as required by senior management.
About You
1. PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
2. Strong research and publication record.
3. Fellowship of Advance HE or to be achieved within 12 months.
4. Proven leadership and management experience in academia.
5. Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and UK regulations.
6. Strategic planning and data analysis skills.
7. Inclusive leadership of diverse academic teams.
8. Experience in a business school setting with undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
9. Experience in curriculum design, delivery, and partnership management.
10. Experience supervising postgraduate research and dissertations.
